Disc Golf : We have a 9 hole
par 3 disc golf course hidden away amongst huge old oak trees. It is a
professionally designed course with marked tees and official PDGA (Professional
Disc Golf Association) chain baskets. |
Play areas : We have a small
play area with swings, a slide and a climbing frame. There are large open
areas for other ball games and some great places to fly kites. There are
two small burns running through the grounds which are fun for netting tadpoles
or small trout, and for dam building. There are lots of other areas which
are perfect for building dens.
Attractions : There are many
attractions in our immediate vicinity including Glenturret Distillery, Drummond
Castle Gardens, Auchingarrich Wildlife park, Drummond fish farm, Crieff Visitor
centre and Comrie Earthquake House to name but a few. For more detail on
the local area visit Strathearn.com.

Lochside Path : The path around the loch is about one and a half miles
- an idyllic setting for a jog, run, or nature walk. The south side is more
open and winds its way through huge beech trees whilst affording glimpsing
views of Ochtertyre House. The North side wends it way through rhododendron
bushes and trees past the boat house, where a track runs up to the 11th century
Cluggie Castle. The North side can be walked on tarmac with a buggy or wheelchair
as far as the boat house, beyond which the path becomes muddier with more
tree roots. The South side is quite open but with tree roots and muddy in
places, therefore accessible for a larger wheeled buggy.

Wildlife : Many different species
of birds visit Loch Monzievaird including Ospreys, Eagles, Kingsfishers,
Little Grebe, Great Crested Grebe, Oystercatchers, Curlews, Dippers and dozens
of other varieties of water birds. Otters live in the loch and can be seen
at most times of the year fishing for freshwater mussels and fat trout. Elusive
roe deer can be seen early in the morning, and red deer occasionally make
their way down to the lochside. Bats are regular and most welcome
visitors. |
Walking : Apart from the lovely
walk around Loch Monzievaird itself there are many other walks that can be
taken directly from here without getting into your car. Right across the
road from our entrance, a short track takes you into the Crieff path network
including a lovely walk alongside the river Earn into Crieff. For the more
adventurous hillwalker there are many Munros within easy distance of Loch
Monzievaird. |
